You Can’t Stop Me From Loving You!

This is a tough one for me to write!  Have you ever had someone close to your heart not reciprocate your kindness and love? Maybe a friend or even a family member you were once very close to, who you shared a part of your life with? You reach out to them, lift them up with your words, you make every effort imaginable only to receive coldness in return? Someone very close to my heart has treated me this way for quite some time now.

What do you do? How do you react? What can fix this brokenness? Maybe not what you think…..

Influence and Leadership

I admit it – I am a leadership junkie.  I can’t read enough, listen enough, workshop enough or learn enough about great leaders, and specifically about great leadership.  I love when I am able to identify someone I can learn from and become a better person because of his or her story and their leadership.

Be careful though – do not confuse a title with great leadership.  It is true – there are many people with impressive titles who are in fact -great leaders.  It is also true that many individuals with big titles are not good leaders or influencers.

Happiness Is A Decision

Have you noticed there are a lot of people talking about how to find happiness these days? Pastors, speakers, writers, bloggers, your friends?  I’ve seen and heard it everywhere. Why? Because our soul craves it; because we need to hear it – desperately! Our lives are infiltrated daily, everywhere we look, with negativity.

If you are connected to technology AT ALL, you understand exactly what I’m talking about. Almost any form of news we tune into reports repetitiously on murders, shootings, racism, ugly politics, hate crimes, and overall (more…)

Personality Differences Are A Blessing

Have you ever made a decision you didn’t even think twice about and to your surprise that decision set someone else’s nerves on fire?  I have experienced this unpleasant situation in both my personal and professional lives, and while I might not have handled it as well as I could have in the moment –  I did learn some powerful life lessons from those experiences.

Quite a few years back, I accepted one of my first big promotions (more…)

Everything Happens for a Reason

My husband rolls his eyes every time I say “It is what it is”, and he consistently replies with “of course it is”.  It has become a little inside joke between the two of us, I say it quite often and he rolls his eyes equally as often. We get a good laugh every time.  I can see his point – because if you are just looking at the surface of that statement – he is right.  But if, like me, you dig deeper than needed into every word, phrase, and tonality of a situation, you know that I mean; “It is what it is” has a much deeper meaning.  What the phrase means to me is… I was in the right place at the right time to hear or see whatever caused me to use the phrase in the first place… and because of that divine timing – I am always looking for the life lesson in almost every situation I experience.

My Baby Turns 21

I simply cannot believe it!  My baby – my child – turns 21 today.  Somebody please tell me where that time went?  Honestly, it feels like just yesterday I was watching her take her first steps, watching her learn to swim, dropping her off to pre-school and sending her to high school.  I blinked…just for a moment….and she’s turning 21.  As important as her right of passage into adulthood is – and it’s huge –  what I can’t stop thinking about is that despite all the mistakes her dad and I made as we were raising her, she turned out better than okay.  Why?  How did that happen?

It’s simple really.  (more…)
